Hashil Elementary School

Hashil Middle School Completed 2004

Beginning in 1997 with a tin shed elementary school with only 60 students, POPEF schools have grown exponentially. Today POPEF operates an elementary school (grades K through 5) and a secondary school (grades 6-10.) POPEF hopes to add on grades 11 and 12 in the near future. Today these schools are the center of the community for Hashil.

school facts:
 
  • Over 500 Students are enrolled in grades K-10
  • 100% of children ages 5 through 16 in Hashil now attend POPEF Schools
  • Primary emphasis is placed on literacy, English, mathematics and science

successes:

  • POPEF elementary school is recognized as the best of the over 400 elementary schools in the Jamalpur district.
  • 99% retention rate in students.
  • Girls in grades 6 through 10 are continuing their education in POPEF schools instead of dropping out to get married.
