November 2004 Newsletter

All 21 tenth grade graduates are attending junior college, which is the equivalent of 11th grade.  Two of those 21 students are at the Notre Dame college, which is the top college in Bangladesh.

Uniforms for the students for the school year beginning in January 2005 have been ordered. Roofing has been completed on the third wing.  This had been delayed previously because of the monsoon rains. Tables, chairs and benches have been ordered for the new classrooms that are being built.

Kitchen and dining room for the teachers and students has been completed.  POPEF provides lunch for the teachers and approximately 5% of the students because those students do not get a square meal at home.

School activities have been expanded to include vocal music classes.  These classes meet after school on Thursdays.

POPEF has held two fundraising events in October, and these were well attended. Two new computers were purchased for student use.

During September, 2004, Muhammad spent two weeks in Hashil to tend to the schools’ operation. Currently the board is planning for their upcoming visit to Hashil in December.
